Ringing in the New Year at Home
Celebrating New Year's Eve at home can be a ton of fun and is a great choice, particularly this year. There are many simple and creative ideas for ringing in the New Year at home with family. Hopefully next year will look different if you prefer going out, but there is still fun to be had as we welcome 2021.

Ringing in the New Year at Home

1. Consider doing a balloon drop. This has been a huge hit in our home. We usually do a countdown at 8pm (much more realistic than midnight these days!) and let the balloons fall. We've used a soccer net in the past but there are balloon drop kits you can buy. Here are step by step instructions.
2. Lay out fun things for your guests to put on, like necklaces from the dollar store, sunglasses, and these cute new year hats! The sillier the better!
3. Invite friends and family to participate in a Zoom or Google Meet Scavenger Hunt. With a little preparation on your part, this activity can provide a lot of laughs! You can find step by step instructions here along with a list of items to find.
4. Take stock of the past year and chat together about your dreams for 2021. There are a few free printables out there or come up with your own. Scroll down to find the Review of 2020 and Goals for 2021 free printables. Enjoy thinking about books you want to read and how you want to help others.

5. It wouldn't be New Years without a toast! Pick up plastic champagne flutes at the Dollar Store and let the kids join in the fun with this adorable and tasty adaptation! (See photo above)
Whether you are alone or with family this New Year's Eve, doing something to mark the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 is a gift to yourself. Take some time to reflect and dream. Part of our reflection this year is thankfulness for you and how to support your care for your friends and family in 2021.
How will you ring in 2021?
